Benefits of ECHO Membership

Free Monthly Magazine

As a member, directors of your association receive free subscriptions to the ECHO Journal, a monthly magazine on topics of vital interest to directors of associations. It contains informative articles on subjects of interest to officers, directors, committee chairpersons and homeowners. For an example of the wealth of information available in the ECHO Journal, articles from the January 2007 edition of the Journal are available for download.

Free Advice and Counseling

Members can also tap into the vast experience shared by many of the associations and professionals who are members of ECHO, as well as the officers, directors and staff of ECHO. The answers to troublesome problems can frequently be found at ECHO with just a phone call. ECHO is an owners' organization designed to benefit homeowners association officers or directors.

Free Copy of Community Association Statutes

Every director at joining and renewing associations receives annually a complimentary copy of the current version of a Community Association Statute book, containing the full text of the Davis-Stirling CID Act and current versions of material from other California and U.S. Codes that affect associations. A Directory of Business and Professional Members is published annually. ECHO publishes many other reports of interest to officers and directors of homeowners associations and provides them at a low cost to our members.

Representation in Sacramento

As a solitary association, it's difficult to get the attention of legislators on issues of importance to you. As a member of ECHO your voice is joined by thousands of other association board members and homeowners. For more than ten years, ECHO has maintained a legislative advocate in the State Capitol to monitor all legislation and other activities affecting common interest developments. ECHO is your association voice in Sacramento, fighting for your rights, getting laws changed, and making things happen for homeowners associations.

Does ECHO make a difference? Examine the results: During the past ten years ECHO successfully backed over 60 bills, many of which we sponsored.

Annual Seminar and Trade Show

A highlight of each year, ECHO organizes an Annual Seminar and Exhibition attended by over 1,000 association members and professionals, California's largest event for homeowners association directors and owners. The Seminar provides three important benefits to members:

  • First, the educational program features topics of vital interest to all association representatives. Presentations made by experts in various fields, such as law, banking, accounting, legislation, insurance and maintenance, give clear direction on how to handle issues arising in these areas.
  • Second, the Seminar provides an opportunity to meet other association officers and directors, share ideas, and learn how others deal with the same situations you face each day.
  • Third, the Exhibition gives you first hand exposure to hundreds of contractors and professionals who work with the common interest development community.
