Current law requires the board to permit any member to attend and speak at any meeting, except for executive session meetings. This bill would require the board to permit a person who represents a member to attend board meetings, and would require written notice to be given, as specified.
The original intent of AB 1720 was to allow homeowners to be represented by their attorneys at board meetings. Although the language has changed, the effect appears to be the same. ECHO recognizes the potential pitfalls of attorney involvement at board meetings, and we are watching this bill very closely.
